We are currently seeking a Head Bartender/Bar Manager for the opening of a new ‘Speakeasy’ style late night bar in Hoxton.

The Nightjar occupies premises on City Rd adjacent to the Old St roundabout. We are currently fitting out the premises to an extremely high standard, with a d̩cor themed around the old-school glamour of the art deco era. The venue will play host to live music 3-4 nights a week, as well as DJs at the weekends. Opening hours will be 5pm Р1am Sun-Thurs, with a closing time of 3am at the weekend. Beyond the classics, the cocktail list will focus chiefly on vintage recipes and those incorporating house-made bitters, infusions, liqueurs and botanicals. The individual we seek will have the skills and abilities to aid the owner-operator in leading a small team of dedicated cocktail-enthusiast bartenders and servers in making this an iconic Shoreditch venue.

The role will include:

– Day-to-day operation (including bartending)

– Staff training

– Rota management

– Menu development

– Stock control

– Relationships with suppliers

– Health and Safety

– Promotion of the Licensing Objectives

The role carries a reasonable salary with potential bonuses based on performance, as well as the potential for an equity share in the business as a long-term incentive.

Requirements

– At least 5 years experience of cocktail bar management roles

– An evangelistic passion for quality alcoholic drinks and mixology

– Flexibility in terms of working hours

– Experience of training other staff

– An excellent knowledge of stock-management and wastage-minimising procedures

– A repertoire of self-created cocktails

– Good contacts with drinks distributors/promoters as well as wholesalers preferable

– Personal License preferable
