Glass: 10 oz Old Fashioned
Method: stirring/gradual dilution
11/2 bar spoons demerara sugar
3 dashes of Peychaud’s bitters
10ml Bottlegreen spiced berry cordial
50ml Talisker 10 Year Old Whisky
1 cinnamon stick
Add the sugar, bitters, cordial, Benedictine and a dash of Talisker to the glass. Stir for 1 minute with a barspoon to dissolve the sugar and blend the bitters, cordial, Benedictine and Talisker, then add 1 ice cube and stir for another minute. Continue the gradual dilution by adding 2/3 oz Talisker and 2 more ice cubes and stir for 2 minutes.
A cinnamon stick
This is a modern take on the classic old fashioned, using the same method to prepare the drink and using the smoky spicy characters of an Islay whisky. The spicy notes in the Benedictine and cordial combine with smoky spice of Talisker, the amount of sugar used in this drink can be adjusted to taste.
