Jack Daniel's is dripped through ten feet of sugar maple charcoal and it's this extra step. It's this extra step that takes out any impurities and lends a unique, smooth taste. This is the process that makes Jack Daniel's a Tennessee Whiskey rather than a bourbon.
Pure iron-free spring water is also an essential part of the recipe, which explains why Jack was so eager to build his distillery at the Cave Spring Hollow in Lynchburg, Tennessee.
With a population of just 361, Lynchburg isn't exactly the biggest town in America. Yet it's famous the world over for being the home of Jack Daniel's Tennessee Whiskey. The town is full of contradictions including being a dry county whilst creating the largest selling American Whiskey in the world.
